Explore the Zen culture at Lingyin Temple and tea culture at Longjing Village
The first stop is Lingyin Zen Monastery. Lingyin Temple inclusive of the Feilai Peak Historic Zone will be the must-see site in Hangzhou, if you are interested in the Zen brilliance and history of Buddhism. Many web-pages available through the Google always describe the Lingyin Temple to be the No.1 or the most famous Buddhist monastery in southeast China. But it is not our focus but the intangible wisdom of Zen and the well-preserved art legacy of the rock carvings.
The second stop is Longjing Tea Plantation. This is a living museum without fence and fees. It shows us the heritage of tea history and culture, and the legends that the ancient big men left us. It is the source of Longjing Green Tea or the Dragon Well Tea, which the world gives a fame of the Green Tea King. Stay here to enjoy a unique countryside tea plantation sightseeing, see how the local tea farmers pick, fry and brew the tea in a traditional way, an finally taste a cup of the tea to refresh yourself.
The focus of the afternoon trip is the experience of history and cultural landscape –
Cool yourself at Six Harmonies Pagoda, Zhijiang Campus of Zhejiang University and West Lake.
The first stop is the Six Harmonies Pagoda, or known as Liuhe Pagoda. It is the most towering and grand pagoda among three ones around the West Lake (the other two are the Baochu Pagoda and Leifeng Pagoda). Not only is the pagoda full of the legends, history, culture and the philosophy of Buddhism, but also it is an excellent site to have a panoramic view of the Qiantang River. In summertime, standing on the top of the pagoda to enjoy the cool wind from the grand river, and look at the fantastic cityscape of big Hangzhou, it will be a nice experience! This campus has a long history and reputed as the most beautiful campus in Hangzhou. Thanks to its special surroundings and location, it is a quite cool and quiet place to enjoy the summertime. It is one of main campuses of Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, and remains lots of the valued architectural clusters of Hangzhou.
The final stop is boating on the West Lake to enjoy the sunset of the West Lake. The classic views of Sunset Glow of Leifeng Pagoda, Evening Bell Ringing at Nanping Hill, Three Pools Mirroring the Moon and so on are available during the cruise time. West Lake at sunset has a totally different scene from it at sunrise. Enjoy your time here.
After that, return to your hotel in downtown Hangzhou.
